Help us make Whangārei even better for our older adults!

We want to hear from people aged 55 years or older living in Whangārei about what life is like for you here.

Your feedback will help us create an Age Friendly Whangārei Plan.

Older adults bring valuable experience, skills and knowledge that can enhance our community.

We want Whangārei to be a place where our older residents can proudly say, “We love it here!”.

Whangārei is a popular place for older adults, with 21 per cent of our population being over 65, compared to the national average of 17 per cent (Stats NZ, Census 2023). This number is expected to grow significantly in the next decade.

Our Age Friendly Whangārei Plan will support the Te Tai Tokerau Regional Accessibility Strategy to ensure that our District is welcoming, accessible and inclusive for everyone.
