Whangārei weather forecast (metservice.com)

Though the heaviest rain has passed, please take extra care when travelling or doing any activities outdoors. The ground is still slippery and we can expect more land-slips as dry ground soaks up the rain and gets heavier.

Current road closures:

  • Russell Road (Whakapara) - flood waters are still receeding about 30km from the start of the road, then it will be fully passable again. Some hazards remain, although fallen trees have been removed and some flooding has now cleared.
  • Memorial Drive and Finlayson Brook Road have closures remaining from Cyclone Gabrielle in 2023.

Partial road closures:

  • Bay View Road - lane closed for underslip, caution advised
  • Parts of Russell Road are reduced to 1 lane

The roading network is otherwise restored from this morning's closures. However roads are still slippery and more rain may cause other land-slips - please continue to drive with care.
