The Old Library roof was leaking and was due for replacement. The design of the replacement roof meets the Historic building and Building Consent exemption requirements. Now that the works are complete, there is little visible difference in the roof.

The project costed $960,000. The construction and scaffolding set-up started in July 2023 and work was completed in mid December 2023.

The roof construction contract was won by NPM Construction and design is by Designgroup architects h + k.
