Youth Survey 2021 - 2022

The Youth Advisory Group (YAG) undertook a project in 2021 to better understand the wants and needs of youth in Whangārei.

This report summarises the feedback, highlights key points from the data and identifies gaps that exist for young people in our District.

Scholarships and cadet programme for youth

Our youth-related facilities and services are mostly concentrated in the city and urban areas. These are the places where many young people from across the District gather to meet and socialise.

We also provide community funding and liaise with other agencies to support youth activities in the District.

Our Cadet Programme provides training, development and paid work experience for young people aged 17 to 24. We also offer a Scholarship Programme which are awarded in the careers that will support our future business needs.

Each Scholarship provides financial assistance and work experience while studying.
