We relocated the existing pedestrian crossing on Dave Culham Drive.

We installed the pedestrian crossing to comply with new best-practice requirements outlined by Waka Kotahi.

This crossing forms an important link for future cycleways and shared paths. It creates a safe crossing to the Pohe Island Bike Park, Pohe Island Pump Park and the Whangārei BMX Club.

What we did

relocated the existing pedestrian crossing
extended the road median and installed a new island
installed some new kerb and channel to improve drainage
increased street lighting.

Investigating options for rating system

We are currently reviewing how rates are calculated to ensure they are still set in the fairest and most equitable way. If changes are proposed, we will seek community input through public consultation early next year. These changes will not impact the total amount of rates we collect, instead they will affect how we work out everyone’s share.
