Contractors have started laying new paving between the Old Library, the Central Library, Te Iwitahi (our new building) and down Lovers Lane.

The work is part of an over-all plan to unite the paved spaces around and between the buildings, connecting them with each other, Cafler Park and the new Lovers Lane Bridge.

The bridge, once opened to the public in late 2024, will connect the Raumanga Shared Path with the Kamo Shared Path.

When the paving and bridge are complete, attention will focus on creating a seamless join between them and the park.

What to expect

During the paving work (due to be completed in November), the areas of work will be cordoned off and signs will direct people safely through the area.
