Smokefree and Vapefree Policy

This policy supports Central Government’s goal of smokefree New Zealand by 2025. It sets out policies and actions which will deliver a smokefree Whangārei.

Our parks, playgrounds, outdoor dining, beaches and all other public places are smokefree and vapefree.

Māori Ward Poll

At the Local Elections 2025, electors will be asked to vote in a poll on whether to keep or remove the Whangārei District Māori Ward.

Easter rubbish and recycling collections

There will be no kerbside rubbish and recycling collections on Friday 18 April 2025.

Collections that would normally occur on the Good Friday public holiday will take place on Saturday 19 April 2025.

The normal rubbish and recycling collection schedule will resume on Monday 21 April 2025.
