Long Term Plans (LTP)

The Long Term Plan is Council's key strategic planning document. It outlines Council's financial situation as well as our activities and priorities for the next ten years, providing a long-term focus for decision-making. It also explains how work will be scheduled and funded.

Long Term Plans must be reviewed every three years with full consultation with the public each time. An Annual Plan is developed in the years, in between.

Submit applications by 15 November for assessment in 2024

Important notice: Grant assessments will be limited during December and January. To receive a decision before the end of the year, please submit your application by Friday 15 November 2024. Consideration of applications will resume in February, but submissions can still be made at any time during this period.

Investigating options for rating system

We are currently reviewing how rates are calculated to ensure they are still set in the fairest and most equitable way. If changes are proposed, we will seek community input through public consultation early next year. These changes will not impact the total amount of rates we collect, instead they will affect how we work out everyone’s share.

Our contractor, City Care, will be spraying broadleaf weeds in turf areas on all Council parks and reserves in October and November 2024.

Huitau Pā walkway partial closure

Part of Huitau Pa walkway is closed due to significant erosion. You can still access the track from the parking area, however please do not walk along the cliff and make sure you stay well away from the edge as it is unsafe. Signage is in place.

Land Information Memorandum (LIM) applications closedown period

The closedown period for LIM applications is from 20 December 2024 to 10 January 2025. Any LIM application received during this time will be deemed as received on 11 January 2025.
The last date to apply and pay to receive your LIM before Christmas will be Monday 9 December 2024.

RMA and Building Act applications closedown period

Please allow for extra days that statutory holidays can add to processing times for applications. Get your applications in on time to avoid disappointment.
The closedown period for processing Resource Management Act and Building Act applications is from 20 December 2024 to 10 January 2025, inclusive.

Summer alcohol licence deadline: Thursday 21 November 2024

The statutory closedown period for processing alcohol licence applications is from 20 December 2024 to 15 January 2025.

To ensure your alcohol licence applications are received and processed before the closedown, we must receive them by Thursday 21 November 2024.

Flush water from taps in the mornings

The Ministry of Health recommends flushing a mugful of water from drinking-water taps each morning to remove any metals that may have dissolved from the plumbing fittings.
Although the health risk is small, this simple precaution is one all households on public and private water supplies should take.
