Tūtūkākā walks

A photo of Whangaumu, also known as Wellington's Bay, on the Tutukaka Coast.

Immerse yourself in nature on the Tūtūkākā coast on a short walk or enjoy the view from a cliff-top lookout.

These short walks have their starting point near the coastal villages of Ngunguru and Tūtūkākā Marina which both have cafes and eateries for you to enjoy after your walk.

Parking

Car parking is available at Whangaumu Street, near Whangaumu lookout.

What to expect

  • Glorious sandy beaches set against a backdrop of native bush and pōhutukawa trees.
  • Good footwear is needed for these walks as they are generally unsurfaced and can be slippery when wet.
  • The coast can be very exposed and weather can change rapidly.
