Manganese Point walkway

Manganese Point

This short walk starts at the far end of Manganese Point Road in Tamaterau, on the northern side of Whangārei harbour.

It passes through some attractive native bush as it descends to a secluded beach and reserve area.

Parking

Parking is available at the turn around at the end of the road and the track is marked. Please park respectfully. 

What to expect

  • A fairly short walk.
  • Native bushes along the way.
  • Offers stunning views across the harbour to One Tree Point.

There may be some known and potential hazards that users should be aware of and avoid.

Known hazards in caves and on Council reserves

Manganese Point track

Time:         10 minutes (one-way)
Distance:   165 metres

This is a surfaced track on sloping ground. There are a number of steps which help to make the climb relatively easy.
