Marsden Bay toilet block gets a facelift

Paint colours 'Wet and Wild' dark blue, 'Havoc' red, 'Galliano' yellow and 'Raven' grey for the trim add to the fun of the new, nautically themed paint job at the Marsden Bay toilet block.

Nautical was the theme chosen by Melinda Butt when she spruced up the public toilet block at Marsden Bay.

The block now sports a bright blue coat of paint and vibrant nautical alphabet flags that spell 'M BAY' along the front, with 'D' (for door) on the sides.

Melinda, Council’s Play Advocate and an accomplished artist, heard that the block was getting new plumbing and a fresh paint job just before Christmas.

She worked with Council’s Parks Field Officer Grant Alsop to come up with an engaging, playful new paint job for the Marsden Bay Drive toilets, which are close to the marina and the playground.

"The locals were extremely appreciative of the improvement. The design goes with the area, it engages people, it’s fun and celebrates the marine theme.

"I also added a restored life ring, salvaged from Riverside Marina, to add a bit of fun and texture to the block.

“Contractors put the main Resene paint colour, 'Spray', on with a roller, and I used rollers and brushes to paint the flags by hand.

“Even the names of the paint colours were fun, with dark blue 'Wet and Wild', red 'Havoc', yellow 'Galliano' and 'Raven' for the grey trim.”
