Community Association Fund

The Community Association Fund supports resident and ratepayer groups, citizen associations and marae trusts recognised by Whangarei District Council that advocate for and uplift their local community.

The Grant is $750 annually for administration costs to support your community mahi. This can include meeting / hui costs, communications / pānui, or honorarium / koha for an administrator. 

Applications can be made any time while the fund is open, and outcomes will be advised within 21 days of your application being received. 

Closing date:  1 April 2025. 

Criteria

Eligible applicants are community organisations that:

  • meet our general eligibility criteria stated in our Community Funding Guide
  • have the primary purpose as stated in their constitution or trust deed to support and advocate for their local community
  • are either place-based or hapū-based within the Whangārei District
  • demonstrate that they are actively engaged with the community, and
  • are recognised by your community and by Council as representing your people's voice.

Step 1.Check criteria

See if you are eligible by checking the criteria above. 

Step 2.Prepare supporting information

You will need to provide the following supporting information with your application:

  • Trust deed or constitution
  • latest AGM minutes
  • Chairperson's report (or equivalent - usually provided at the AGM)
  • latest annual financial report (usually uploaded to the societies or charities register)
  • proof of bank details (if we haven't funded you in the last two years).

Step 4.Complete application

Fill in our online application form on our portal and upload any supporting documents.
