Established in the 1920s by Whangārei resident Archibald Clapham, the clock museum is open to the public.

Mr Clapham accumulated around 400 items during his life. After his death in 1963 the new owner of the collection, Whangarei District Council, built the collection up to over 1400 items. The clock collection is one of Whangārei's most popular tourist attractions.
