Kensington Park

Kensington Park is a large multi-purpose recreational area. 

There is a children's playground, free public tennis courts during summer months, and permanent cricket nets, on Kensington Avenue.

It is a major sports ground for the District, containing several regional facilities including:

  • 2 artificial hockey water turfs
  • all weather mondo athletic track
  • table tennis hall
  • 12 outdoor netball courts
  • soccer pitches
  • cricket ovals
  • 4 public use courts are available for tennis and netball. 

Parking

Off road parking is available from Kensington Avenue, Western Hills Drive and on Park Avenue.

  • Northland Hockey Association (artificial water turfs)
  • Trigg Arena - Whangarei Athletics (all weather track) and Whangarei Academy of Gymnastics (gymnasium)

  • McKay Stadium
  • Whangarei Netball Association (outdoor courts)
