Community Libraries

There are eight Community Libraries in the Whangārei District.

They each have their own membership, lending requirements and opening hours. They are administered and staffed by volunteers, separately to the four Whangārei libraries that are managed by the Whangarei District Council.

Hikurangi Community Library

Open Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10:00am to 2:00pm.
Tuesday 10:00am to 4:00pm.
Thursday 10:00am to 3:00pm.

Matapōuri Community Library

Open Wednesday 1.30pm to 3.30pm
Saturday 10:00am to 12:00pm.

Ngunguru Community Library

Open Monday 3:00pm to 4:30pm
Wednesday 9:30am to 12:00pm
Saturday 9:30am to 12:00pm.

Ruakākā Community Library

Open Monday to Friday 9:30am to 3:30pm
Saturday 9:00am to 1:00pm.

Tauraroa Community Library

Open during school terms:
Monday and Tuesday 8:30am to 3:30pm;
Wednesday to Friday 9:00am to 2:00pm.

Waipu Community Library

Open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 10:00am to 1:00pm
Tuesday 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Whananaki Community Library

Open Wednesday 9:30am to 12:30pm
Saturday 9:30am to 12:30pm.

Whangārei Heads Community Library

Open to the public during school terms:
Monday to Friday 1:30pm to 4:30pm
Saturday 10:00am to 12:00pm.
During school holidays: Monday to Saturday 10:00am to 12:00pm.
