As you explore a graveyard, you will encounter symbols on gravestones. Bill Edwards talked about these symbols that tell us about the belief systems of those buried and something of their life story. By understanding the symbolic nature of graves, it allows us to understand more deeply the people who lived before us. Northland has rich heritage of early cemeteries that need to be preserved for future generations.
