Our funding programme supports local community mahi for the benefit of everyone in the Whangārei District.

Waste Minimisation Fund

This fund is for projects leading to measurable reductions in waste to landfill.
Applications are now open and close 18 April 2025.

Whangārei Communities Fund

This fund supports local community groups with their mahi for the benefit of everyone in the Whangārei District.

Papakāinga Fund

This fund is for the development of new housing on ancestral Māori land.
Apply any time.

Community Loans

We offer interest-free loans for the development of recreation facilities in the community.
Apply any time.

Creative Communities Scheme (CCS)

This scheme can be used for the creation and presentation of diverse arts and culture projects and events.
This fund will open 1 May 2025.

Community Association Grant

This grant supports resident and ratepayer groups, citizen associations and Marae trusts that advocate for and uplift their local community.

Event Development Fund

This fund is for new, diverse and innovative events for the District, which have potential to be self-sustaining without Council funding in future years.

Puanga Matariki Events Fund

This fund supports local community groups to create events to be part of Puanga Matariki Festival.

Youth Week Fund

This fund supports rangatahi and tamariki aged 12 - 24 to organise a community event or project to celebrate Youth Week in Whangārei.
